Marriott Marquis Houston

Traveling should be a great experience. What better place to have it than the center of life right in Houston? Downtown is a perfect choice for a luxurious hotel, which is why Marriott has chosen to open a new one, right here, and it will be ready by November 2016!

Houston is obviously a travel destination for most business meetings, but there are also various conventions that take place in our George R. Brown Convention Center. How is that relevant? The upcoming Marriott Marquis hotel will be connected to the Convention Center with a stunning sky bridge. Not only is the location of this hotel perfect, but the amenities that will be available are breathtaking. It features a full-service spa and fitness center, sports bar, two specialty restaurants, wine bar, cafe, and pool bar, and grill. All of this within an unbelievable building with 1,000 guest rooms and 100,000 square feet of meeting space, to meet all of your business or convention needs. Is this not enough for you? Might I add that this hotel is located right by the Discovery Green Park and in the Downtown area where there is plenty of entertainment and sports fun. There are also multiple restaurants and bars for you and your friends.

I hope that you look forward to the opening of the striking Marriott Marquis hotel here in Houston, because I know I will.

The Colombia Texas Chamber of Commerce, the U.S.-Panama Business Council, the U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Houston Partnership, the University of Houston, and Houston First have joined forces to organize the first hemispheric Conference & Expo in Houston titled “Houston: Gateway to the Americas”, to be held at the The Westin Houston, Memorial City on October 24-26, 2016.

Why Houston?

Houston is the fourth largest city in the United States and the fifth largest metropolitan region. It is recognized as the United States’ epicenter of Energy Center and its Texas Medical Center is unparalleled in the world. The Houston Ship Channel, hosting the Port of Houston, is the largest port in the United States in international tonnage and its airport system is the top ten in the nation and #3 in flights to the Americas.

Houston’s leadership position will be strengthened with the expansion of the Panama Canal, scheduled to the finalized in the first half of 2016. The expansion will position Houston as the principal port of Central USA, with large implications for the trade and investment. The Houston port is the presently deepening its container port to accommodate post-Panamax ships while at the same time installing new container cranes.

The conference will serve to strengthen the “connection” between Houston and the Americas, enhancing its position as the true gateway. It will undoubtedly expand on existing trade and lead to additional transfer of technology, education, tourism and other areas.

Mihaela Noroc Photography

Photographer from Romania, the author of an unique project -The Atlas of Beauty-. She travels and captures the natural and diverse beauty around the world.

I photographed women in 37 countries, but there are more faces on earth to be discovered.

Your support is really important because it will help me reach more places of the earth and show more diversity of our amazing planet. Our world really needs an Atlas of Beauty and we can create it together.

What is The Atlas of Beauty

First of all, let me introduce myself: I’m Mihaela Noroc, a 29 years old photographer from Romania. In the past 2 years I traveled around the world, with my own small savings, photographing hundreds of women and creating a project called The Atlas of Beauty.

My goal is to show that beauty is everywhere and is not about race, money or trends, but more about being yourself, natural and authentic.

Today more and more women feel a pressure to look in a certain way, but I think we are beautiful, if we treasure what makes us unique.

The Atlas of Beauty became viral on the internet and major publications, from all around the world, wrote about it. Now I have the chance to make my statement heard so it’s very important to continue my project.

19333-R3L8T8D-900-different-countries-women-portrait-photography-michaela-noroc-5-moscow-russiaI have to travel at least one year to gather enough images for publishing a comprehensive Atlas, but I really need your support to do this journey.

19345-R3L8T8D-900-I-photographed-women-from-37-countries-to-show-that-beauty-is-everywhere16__880I plan to visit all continents, except Antarctica, and I will make my exact route based on your votes. I will go in both modern and traditional countries. I will cover different kind of environments from cities, villages and remote areas to show the diversity of our planet, through portraits of women.

19349-R3L8T8D-900-I-photographed-women-from-37-countries-to-show-that-beauty-is-everywhere7__880Now millions of people will see my photos and together we can send a powerful message to the world. We can show that beauty is in our differences and we should all be proud of ourselves.

Now that I reached the funding goal, I can cover the expenses listed above.

But more funds I raise, more countries and diversity I will capture. The extra funds are essential for the quality of the project and for the film of the journey so each contribution is still very important, until the last day of the campaign.

19340-R3L8T8D-900-I-photographed-women-from-37-countries-to-show-that-beauty-is-everywhere10__880With your support, I will study more areas of the world.

I will buy a dedicated video camera and microphone.  The documentary will be very authentic and realistic, but it still needs investments.

19351-R3L8T8D-900-I-photographed-women-from-37-countries-to-show-that-beauty-is-everywhere9__880I will also be able to offer more support when visiting communities in need.

Sometime I will be able to rent a car to go in more remote places.

20150315121000-2eThe Impact of the project

The Atlas of Beauty has been featured in major publications of the world. This coverage offers us the opportunity to send our message to more people.

20150315150344-colaj_logo

But this is just the beginning. If I will have your support I will capture much more diversity. Together we will continue to show that beauty means to be yourself, to be proud of your roots, to cultivate what you have, instead of being disappointed about something that you don’t have.

Beauty is in our differences and uniqueness. Now I’m saying it trough words, but if I will have your support, I will “say” it better through my photos.

19350-R3L8T8D-900-I-photographed-women-from-37-countries-to-show-that-beauty-is-everywhere8__880-1Risks and challenges

In my previous journey I had dangerous moments, hard days of working, exhausting routes, unfriendly viruses, but I will do it again, with all my passion. This time I will have more experience and more confidence, knowing that wonderful people from all around the world are supporting me.

19347-R3L8T8D-900-I-photographed-women-from-37-countries-to-show-that-beauty-is-everywhere18__880Other ways you can help

Any contribution is important and will help me to continue. But you can also support me by sharing my story with your friends and letting the world know about The Atlas of Beauty Campaign.

19343-R3L8T8D-900-I-photographed-women-from-37-countries-to-show-that-beauty-is-everywhere14__880-1Together we can show to the world that beauty is everywhere. Thank you very much for your support!

The Shinkansen bullet train goes through an amazing process to get clean every day in between each train ride because more than 400.000 people get on it each day and nobody wants to sit on other people’s germs. So these amazing groups of workers come in, clean, and leave just as the next train rolls by.

Seeing this amazing miracle that happens pretty much every day, you kind of just want to stand up from your seat and make a miracle happen.

HOUSTON, May 11, 2015– United Airlines, in partnership with Houston Mayor Annise Parker and the Houston Airport System, broke ground on the airline’s new Terminal C North concourse at George Bush Intercontinental Airport on May 11.

1147018-8Floor-to-ceiling windows in the new concourse will offer soaring tarmac views, expansive gate-lounge areas will provide higher levels of comfort and 20 new dining and retail options near boarding gates will give Houstonians and travelers connecting through the airport more of the varied options they enjoy.

The $244 million project will create a 265,000-square-foot facility, more than 100,000 square feet larger than the existing Terminal C North, with 11 passenger boarding gates to accommodate a mix of United’s narrow-, mid- and wide-body

When construction on the new concourse is completed, the Houston Airport System will demolish the existing Terminal C North facility at Bush Intercontinental to enable the reconstruction of the Mickey Leland International Terminal D. The international terminal is critical to Bush Intercontinental’s extensive connecting air traffic, particularly for those customers connecting between United flights and flights operated by United’s international airline partners.

Texas Central High-Speed Railway (TCR) is a private, for-profit company, promoting high-speed rail connecting Dallas and Houston in under 90 minutes.

Once high-speed rail is operating between Dallas and Houston, travel between Texas’ two largest metropolitan regions will no longer be a chore—but rather, a productive, relaxing and enjoyable experience on the fastest, safest, most reliable, comfortable and convenient form of intercity travel in the U.S.

In addition to the lifestyle benefits of a sophisticated travel option, high-speed rail will reduce congestion on already strained infrastructure, reduce carbon emissions, create thousands of jobs and most importantly, support and continue to bolster the Texas economy.

The Dallas – Houston corridor is ideal for high-speed rail because it connects the 4th and 5th largest metropolitan areas in the country, at a distance (240 miles) that makes rail travel times faster than auto and competitive with air. The system we are promoting is the N700-I Bullet based on the Tokaido Shinkansen that is currently operating in Japan with more than 50-years of perfect, safe operation and an average annual delay of less than one minute.

Our approach is fundamentally different from the high-speed rail proposals Texans have considered in the past, as well as any effort being pursued in other states – we are a private, market-led effort – meaning no Texan tax dollars will be used to make this train a reality.

Speed. Style. Safety. Convenience. That’s high-speed rail, the Lone Star way.

As proposed, the 240-mile project will be:

  • Developed by a private, for-profit corporation
  • Designed with station locations driven by consumer demand
  • Engineered to limit environmental and landowner impact
  • Safe and secure because it is based on a proven system that will meet or exceed strict state and federal regulations on security and safety
  • Successful because it will give customers what they want
