More Service

Linking you to more destinations. METRO’s New Bus Network improves trips to key activity centers throughout the region and offers the flexibility for growth.

We’re ready for the weekend. Frequent weekend service gives you more freedom to go where you want, when you want- seven days a week.

Better Service

Simpler routes. We’re simplifying our routes with improved connections and fewer branches.

Better connections. With routes that work together, the system gives you more connections to destinations in our region.

Your Service

A sustainable system. We’ve created a network that not only serves our community today, but anticipates the possibility of expansion into tomorrow.

A bus network linking people and places. The frequent bus network connects more than one million people to one million jobs, with shorter wait times for buses.

lt’s all about you. We want to make these improvements to give you the best transit service possible. The most important part of this plan Is YOU.

The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) is the region’s largest public transit provider, offering safe, reliable and affordable transportation services about 370,000 times per day. METRO operates more than 1,200 buses, and METRO’s New Bus Network is coming August, 2015. For a good picture of where we are headed see our new system map.  METRO’s expanded light-rail system includes the Red Line (Main Street and Northline extension), Green Line (East End) and Purple Line (Southeast). Other METRO services include: Star Vanpool, METROLift, HOV lanes, HOT lanes, Bikes-on-Buses/Trains program, Park & Ride, and road improvement projects. It’s the summer; pretty much everyone is on a summer break. Even if you don’t, you have siblings or kids. Drop on by the Children’s Museum of Houston today!

What makes this museum so special? First off it is the “America’s No. 1 Children’s Museum” by Parents magazine, the Winner of Nickelodeon Parents’ Picks Best Museum in Houston” 2009 & 2010, Click2Houston’s Best Museum” 2010, and the Citysearch.com nationwide 5-star children’s museum. Amazing, right?

CMH_Cyberchase-2-_700x700Since it was founded in 1980 by a group of Houston parents, this museum has done everything in its power to influence kids to learn while having fun, to involve kids in reading, science, math, culture, and social studies.

Overall I think this is a fantastic museum if you are under 12 years old or know someone between those ages, perhaps your kids or siblings. Check out the Children’s Museum of Houston this summer!

TX/RX is a non-profit Hackerspace in Houston offering classes, lab space, and collective knowledge. They are a project based group of makers, inventors, tinkerers, artists, crafters, and coders.

Their goals are to bring creative people together and to make opaque scientific and technical concepts accessible to everyone through education.

If you see a class that is full or isn’t available, you can just sign up for an email notification so you don’t have to keep checking the website day in day out.

If you feel as if you don’t want to book a class just yet because you don’t know anything about TX/RX Labs, you can head on over to the Open House they host every Friday at 7 p.m. and check out the huge facility!

This sounds like something strange to you, yes? Well it might just be the funniest night of your life!

They provide family friendly entertainment in a one of a kind Clue Game atmosphere for all ages!

The night starts with a delicious dinner catered from Carrabbas Italian Grill that has a Caesar salad, Chicken Marcela, mashed potatoes, vegetable medley, bread and olive oil. Non-alcoholic drinks are provided but you may bring your own beer, wine or champagne. They have a dessert buffet that consists of 5 to 6 delicious desserts that, of course, include chocolate! Following the dinner the mystery begins!

chocolateA crime takes place and you get a choice, the choice of just staying seated and solving the crime or taking on a role in the mystery and taking on a role means you might be chosen to take on a starring or minor role and could end up being the murderer or be murdered. Why wouldn’t you want to take part in this exciting game and become Sherlock Holmes, or maybe even Moriarty (the villain in Sherlock Holmes)?

Instead of going to that boring movie and dinner you planned, I suggest you go to this Mystery Dinner Theater and have some interaction with a story!

They perform every Saturday 6:00 – 8:00pm at their location in Webster, TX. The evening includes dinner, drink, and dessert.

The rosters for the 2015 AllStar Game were officially announced on Sunday night, and we couldn’t be more proud of Dallas Keuchel and Jose Altuve which will represent the Houston Astros in All-Star week festivities, and it will take part in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Tuesday, July 14.

11667336_10155723483570431_7535709053634450273_nAltuve has been elected to start an All-Star Game for the very first time, although this is his third All-Star selection (also in 2012, 2014). On September 16, 2014, the Astros second baseman hit a single up the middle to break Craig Biggio‘s record of 210 hits. The same year, he became the first Astros player to win a batting title.

11659351_10155727233420431_5885114168636684802_nTucked in there among the top 10 pitchers, is a 27-year-old lefty who has emerged as MLB’s unlikeliest ace, and whose beard is his trademark. Of course, we are referring to Dallas Keuchel. This season, the starting pitcher’s numbers are as impressive as they were unexpected. This guy, who was the latest victor of the Gold Glove, currently leads the American League in wins (11), innings pitched (130.1) and ranks second in ERA (2.14).

We hope you will support these fellow Houstonians by watching the All Stars Game on Fox Channel.

This morning (06-30-2015), Houston Major Annise Parker was pleased to announce that the Federal Aviation Administration granted a launch site license to make Ellington Airport, one of the ten selected sites nationwide to build a commercial Spaceport.

spaceport 1

According to Mayor Parker, a licensed Spaceport in Houston will not only serve as an economic generator for the city but also enhance Houston’s well-deserved reputation as a leader and key player in the aerospace industry.

Currently, Houston has a booming economy with a strong aerospace industrial base, a well-educated workforce with experience in the high-tech demands of space exploration and plenty of room for growth at a strategically located airport facility. So once again, this is an excellent opportunity to take advantage of what this fascinating city has to offer.
