HOUSTON, May 13, 2015– Southwest Airlines chairman and CEO Gary Kelly announced Wednesday that Southwest Airlines will add Liberia, Costa Rica, its 97th destination, on Nov. 1.
Southwest previously had announced that it would fly from Hobby to four cities in Mexico, plus San Jose, Costa Rica, and Belize City, Belize, beginning Oct. 15 and Montego Bay, Jamaica, on Nov. 1. It began service to Aruba earlier this year.
Kelly said he’s never been to Liberia, but “I understand it’s an awesome place to go.”
Houston will be a major international connection point for Southwest Airlines customers traveling from Dallas Love Field, where federal law bans nonstop international flights.
